Einzelstück 2 - Finnish Peace Making

Small nations often have difficulties in making known their policies and becoming rightly understood amidst the international community . Finland, too, has experienced this. Many different conceptions arise in the world concerning the country's status and policy line. The same is also true for peace movements in a small, peripheral country. They are hardly visible - which may, on the other hand, reveal that their peace work has been successful. Finnish peace work, both at the governmental and at the non-governmental level has strong and diverse traditions. The purpose of this collection is to shed light of the Finnish peace polic, its nature and its modes of action for international public, from the point of view of the independent peace movement. Some of the articles have been published before, some have been prepared expressly for this collection. The book is divided into three sections: on the Finnish peace movement, on official armament and disarmament policy, and on specific issues in Finnish peace work. (Klappentext)
